Electronics

The electronics used included components which were integrated into the board game and the electronics used to build and program it. We used LEDs connected individually with copper tape to one of several batteries to light the board up once a circuit was completed with a game piece. We also used to arduino lilypads each connected to a light sensor and a speaker to make the GO and JAIL spaces interactive. The components were connected to the lilypad utilizing wires and solder.

The electronic tools include computers, a soldering iron, a laser cutter, two 3D printers, and shop tools. We used laptops to program the arduino lilypads and desktops to operate the 3D printing and rayjet laser cutter softwares. The soldering iron was used to connect the wires to the arduinos and respective components as well as create a permanent connection between the LEDs and the copper tape. The laser cutter was utilized to etch the top of the game board, and was projected to cut out and engrave property, community chest, and chance cards.  We also desired to cut out small buildings that were to be glued together, however due to technical issues this operation was not carried out either. The 3D printers were used to create the game pieces and the property cards. The shop tools are comprised of a table saw, a bench saw, a drill press, sandpaper, and a hot glue gun. All of these were used to construct the box. The hot glue gun was used to glue the game pieces to pennies.
